THINGS TO KNOW

  • Currency: Czech Koruna (CZK). While some places take euros or cards, cash is king at smaller spots.

  • Language: Czech, but many people in tourist areas speak English.

  • Tipping: 10% is customary at restaurants—sometimes it’s not included in the bill.

  • Transit: Public transportation is cheap and efficient. Grab a multi-day pass for trams, metros, and buses.

  • Safety: Overall safe, but beware of pickpockets in crowded tourist areas.

  • Seasonal Tips: Spring and early fall offer the best weather with fewer crowds. Christmas markets in winter are pure magic.

  • Nightlife: Beyond beer halls, you’ll find clubs, absinthe bars, and riverside hangouts.

  • Wi-Fi: Strong and accessible throughout most cafes and accommodations.

  • Don’t Rush: Prague rewards the wanderers. Give yourself time to explore slowly—you’ll find charm down every alley.
